In order to appeal to large families again, Tesla is bringing the three-row Model Y L to the American market.
According to Car and Driver, the introduction of the Y L Launch Series is an attempt to reclaim the large-family market share it lost when it stopped producing the three-row Model X. It will make that case as the wheelbase is six inches longer and its body is seven inches longer than the Model Y, allowing for a third row.
But passengers in the back will not be packed in like sardines, the passenger portion of the Y L is built for comfort. Second-row captain’s chairs are standard along with 89 cubic feet of cargo space.
Tesla plans to MSRP the SUV at $63,630 and will likely start deliveries in the fall. It is listed to have a 325-mile range on its 83-kWh battery pack.
